The dream, scary but brazen

Over the last few decades, I have flitted around the country to live in warmer pastures. First, my restless spirit ventured off to California. Although I loved the west coast, connecting with family was challenging. To be closer to home, but still live by the beach, I headed to Florida. As Pliny the Elder said, “home is where the heart is.” I eventually found my way back to Massachusetts.

When I moved back home, I decided I wanted to buy a condo. The thought of owning a piece of property on my own was daunting. I had always rented, which…

Do men think women will always take them back?

A former lover once asked, “Is there anyone from your past you wish you could go back to? Maybe the timing was not right, or you were not ready?”

My simple response to him was “No.” We parted ways a few times and got back together. But when I was done, I lost interest in stoking an old flame. Despite multiple attempts, the door remained shut.

A friend was having issues in her marriage. Her husband thought that if they divorced and he made a mistake, he could come back after a year or two. And during their time apart…

As advised by his holiness, I practice compassion.

I once had the opportunity to see the 14th Dalai Lama speak. My friend, Brenda, my mom, and I entered a packed stadium at Florida Atlantic University. There was a buzz of anticipation in the air as everyone waited for his holiness to enter. We were ready to be enlightened by his wisdom.

Who is the Dalai Lama?

According to the Dalai Lama’s website, “The Dalai Lamas are believed by Tibetan Buddhists to be manifestations of Avalokiteshvara or Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva…

Off to Ail Ain

One day, we headed to Al Ain, the Garden City with our Gate 1 group via bus. On our way there, we spied Oman, another country I had never thought of visiting. Our guide encouraged us to travel there. Google served up pretty pictures… maybe one day.

Mixing work with pleasure

A few years ago, I acquired a few new states as part of my territory. One week, I found myself in West Virginia, a place I had never visited before. After several hours of meetings and driving, I decided to wander off into nature for a bit. West Virginia was hot and inviting, and I was itching for adventure.

I went online to see what West Virginia had to offer, and I found a waterfall at Valley Falls State Park. I love water. I love the outdoors. I decided to venture off there.

A beautiful nature walk

I love being outside and walking in nature. Being in the wilderness forces you to slow down and enjoy the beauty around you. Nature makes stress disappear. We become consumed by its serenity. Being outdoors is medicine for our souls.

The beauty of Maine

One day, work took me to Bangor and Ellsworth, Maine. My client suggested I check out Bar Harbor before heading home. I decided, ‘why not?’ Although I was running on empty, the seed had been planted. My curiosity was piqued. My desire to explore a cute, little New England town overpowered my foggy mind and achy body.

I had no idea what Bar Harbor would be like or what I would do when I got there. I figured I could eat lunch and then hit Acadia National Park. Or, maybe I could explore Acadia, then Bar Harbor. I reached out…

My friend, Elaine, asked me if I wanted to join her on an 8 Day Classic Dubai & Abu Dhabi trip from Gate 1. The package included international airfare, hotels, transfers, a few meals, and some tours. When we booked our trip, we added two days to our itinerary. Elaine had a direct flight from Florida, and I flew direct from Boston. We paid around $1,800 each for this amazing deal.

While flying for work

One of my last work flights, before COVID shut the world down, was from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. There is not much around the airport, and the area is normally quiet. On this particular day, there were crowds of people milling around, waiting.
